10 Black Woman-Owned Wellness Brands You Should Know

In order to grow and thrive in our self-care and self-improvement, it’s important to feel that you belong and deserve to be in a particular space. As each of us takes on the work of growing and maintaining our personal health and wellness, it can be daunting to find spaces where you feel like you “fit in” or spaces that feel designed for you as a Black woman.
These brands and groups, all owned and/or founded by Black women, are doing the much-needed work to build such spaces to support healthy lifestyles.
ASRA
Location: London, United Kingdom

What they are: A safe space, community and run club for Muslim women. Weekly track workouts, meet-ups and community discussions, all in a safe space for Muslim women to practice and promote wellness.
What makes them unique: Founder Sahra-Isha explains, “It’s for us, by us. No Muslim woman is the same, hence my aim has always been to ensure that one does not have to compromise on her Iman/faith. It is not about sheltering us but making sure that no one feels left out. By going to those lengths makes it a safe space for Muslim women, we also make it a safe space for all Women.”
HealHaus
Location: Brooklyn, NY

What they are: A joint wellness space and cafe offering classes, workshops and private sessions.
What makes them unique: A joint wellness space and cafe that explores diverse healing modalities and expression through different mediums. Focused on holistic health and wellness, they offer workshops and daily classes include yoga, meditation, and other various practices. This community is dedicated to changing the stigma attached to healing.
BLK + GRN
Location: Online (plus, pop-up stores)

What they are: A non-toxic online marketplace featuring products and services by all Black artisans. At BLK + GRN, all of their Black artisans are carefully chosen by Black health experts who know what an all-natural product truly looks like. Motto: “We’re Black, but we live green.”
What makes them unique: Their online marketplace connects Black people with natural lifestyles to high-quality, toxic-free brands that share in our mission of health, wellness and community cultivation.
The Brownies
Location: New York, New York

What they are: A platform that promotes culture, good vibes and Black Girl Magic through their run club, book club and other events.
What makes them unique: Brooklyn natives Ayanna Wilks and Brianna Agyemang (@ayannaw and @bri_anna) took their experience with experiential marketing and put it to use creating events and spaces especially for Black women while promoting cultural change.
Ethel’s Club
Location: Brooklyn, New York

What they are: “A private social and wellness club designed to celebrate People of Color, our identity, and our experiences.” This beautifully-designed space is a haven for new ideas, intentional community, and dynamic conversations.
What makes them unique: Created for people of color, every element of the space is designed with purpose and care. Membership provides access to daily programming designed to foster personal and community growth.
Fly Girl Collective
Location: London, United Kingdom
What they are: Founded by Matilda Egere-Cooper, Fly Girl Collective is a space and community existing to help you get to your best life through running and community. Based in London, you get to run with your tribe through membership-based training-runs, events, meetups and receive support throughout your fitness journey.
What makes them unique: Fly Girl Collective is committed to celebrating and promoting representation and diversity in fitness.
Magnolia Yoga Studio
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
What they are: The first Black-owned wellness studio in New Orleans--a vibrant community-based space to practice yoga and meditation. At Magnolia, they truly believe it is important to invest in your health and wellness.
What makes them unique: They’re a sacred space where clients can practice and strengthen the mind-body connection through hot yoga and meditation.
The Move Co.
Location: New York, New York

Who they are: The Move is all about building community and supporting each woman’s fitness journey. Hint: We hear their “Flow + Grow” yoga workout and plant potting workshop is a vibe.
What makes them unique: The Move hosts wellness and fitness events including yoga, HIIT and strength classes, and even plant workshops, all with a special focus on Women of Color.
The Healing Barre
Location: Washington, D.C.

Who they are: A fitness, yoga and meditation studio that provides a low-impact, high-intensity workout that fuses together elements of yoga, Pilates, ballet, and traditional weight training for all levels.
What makes them unique: Founder Whitley is a nationally certified Barre Instructor who trained for 16 years as a ballet dancer. She honors the original barre style fitness workout while also adding her own signature twist to help clients have fun while getting results. Her perspective is about balance, and her playlist includes everything from Imagine Dragons to Meghan thee Stallion.
Spiked Spin

What they are: At the intersection of wellness & hip-hop culture, lies hip-hop cycling studios Spiked Spin. They invite you to “come as you are, but leave better.” Founded by Briana Owens, Spiked Spin was created to address the lack of diversity and representation in the boutique fitness world.
What makes them unique: Black-owned and based in Brooklyn, this community promotes inclusivity, individuality, and confidence within their studios.
